Two garages of the same size can need very different work. A price per square foot is useful only when you know exactly what it includes.
Compare the complete system and preparation before comparing totals. An online price range is not an estimate for your slab.
Why area does not tell the whole story
An empty garage with sound concrete is different from a painted, oily or badly scaled slab. Removing old coatings, grinding, repairs and edge details can represent a substantial part of the job.
Small spaces also carry fixed costs for travel, protection and equipment setup. Multiplying the area by the lowest advertised rate can create an unrealistic expectation.
Read the estimate line by line
Ask what is included for preparation, cracks, joints and vertical surfaces. Check the proposed system: primer where required, base, decorative finish and protective topcoat. The word “epoxy” alone does not describe all of those steps.
Make sure taxes, travel, waste removal and unforeseen corrections are addressed clearly. A warranty should explain coverage, exclusions and the claims process.
Provide information that leads to a useful answer
Measure length and width, then identify additional areas. Note existing paint, cracks, stains and any history of water. Explain whether the garage can be emptied and when you need it back in service.
A reliable estimate may require inspection. Surface Boréal confirms price and system for each project. Other companies’ published prices in the further reading do not represent our rates.
Your checklist
- Same area and edge details
- Preparation and repairs described
- Products, layers and texture specified
- Taxes, warranty and return to service explained
